The Angelo Mai Library represents the historical and cultural heart of Bergamo's municipal library system, distinguished by its longstanding heritage and significance.

Quid Life commissioned us to design and produce a videomapping installation celebrating the library's most significant works.

We structured the building into multiple visual layers, creating perspective depth to transform it into an open-air theatre, where the external columns acted as theatrical wings.

By projecting a three-dimensional model of the building onto its own façade, we developed a visual narrative structured into moments highlighting the rediscovery of its architectural details, interwoven with six thematic acts, ultimately culminating in the full illumination and unveiling of the building itself.

Starting from the materials identified and selected by the agency, we carefully extracted significant elements from prints, letters, miniatures, and manuscripts.

These elements were then deconstructed and artistically reimagined, adapting their shapes and colors to align seamlessly with the building’s neoclassical architecture. Remarkable artifacts, such as the Diploma of Frederick Barbarossa, the score of Lucia di Lammermoor, and notable editions of Emporium magazine, along with other extraordinary historical documents, were creatively integrated into the facade of the building, culminating in an engaging five-minute videomapping experience.
